Want to extract some DNA?

It’s so easy you can actually do it at home. Try it like this:

  1. Take some animal or vegetable, like uncooked steak or leaves.
  2. Add some salt water.
  3. Toss it in a blender and liquefy.
  4. Add some dish soap. This dissolves the cell membranes the blender doesn’t.
  5. Then add some meat tenderizer, which breaks down the proteins attached to DNA.
  6. Then add some rubbing alcohol. Do not mix!

By the end, you’ll have a mush on the bottom and clear alcohol on top. Alcohol has a real attraction to DNA, and if you’ve done it right, a lumpy white ball should appear in the alcohol. This is DNA.

Do it yourself!

  1. You have incredible writing skills, your syntax and grammar are impeccable - it almost seems that you're an editor. I find all of your musings interesting and informative at the same time. Your blog takes me back to a period about 4-5 years ago when I used to post regularly. Unfortunately my composition skills have become rather rusty during my hiatus.

Anyways, I'd just like to tell you to keep sharpening your skills; if you aren't already, one day you could become a paid writer/columnist of some sort. I can't believe that you don't have any followers, haha. This must just be catharsis for you.
